JAMES HENRY BREWARD

Audio and Comms Specialist - AELTC

James Henry Breward, know to all as ‘Brew’ is the Audio and Comms Specialist for The All England Lawn Tennis Club, which stages The Championships, Wimbledon.

Brew has more than 20 years’ experience, initially embarking upon his training at LIPA, the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. The early chapters of his career saw him touring relentlessly with various musical theatre and live music touring productions.

Over time he moved into the world of Ceremonies, including Olympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies in London and Sochi, before settling full-time at Wimbledon.

Having freelanced for many years on The Championships it was an obvious progression, and he is now responsible for the delivery of everything that is heard around the Grounds: from chair umpires; players’ post-match interviews; voice safety systems; background music and presentations in hospitality spaces; the experience for the public on The Hill; and the Qualifying Competition staged nearby at Roehampton.

If that isn’t enough, Brew is instrumental in the design and implementation of the intercom system, supporting remote audio operation, line calling, statisticians and event safety teams.

Brew also works as an Audio and Comms lecturer at several training facilities.

He likes to stay abreast of new technologies by keeping his hand in the occasional large-scale live event - testing large systems to the limit.

Brew regularly receives requests for help and advice with comms in weird and wonderful situations!
